Brecon Beacons Engagement | Melissa + Steve

We absolutely loved this Brecon Beacons Engagement shoot. Melissa + Steve are getting married in 2020 and wanted a collection of beautiful sunset images to incorporate into their wedding website.  They have planned a classy, elegant day for their friends and family at Clevedon Hall, so it was lovely to do something a little different and let loose a little by running through the Welsh lands together.

Often there are nerves around portraits being taken on the wedding day. This is so normal, and something we hear so regularly. We always like to get to know you before the big day as it’s so important to feel comfortable having us around. Getting together for photos before your wedding is such a great way to calm those nerves and get used to how we work as photographers. It’s a time to play and experiment. This way when the wedding comes around, you’ll feel totally relaxed and really enjoy the cameras (and us) being around.

Melissa + Steve are currently based in Cardiff, so meeting in Wales was the perfect way to remember this special time in their lives. We met around an hour before sunset, when the sun is low and the warmth of the sun casts a golden glow over the fields. This is when we (and any photographer out there) get really excited as the light is perfect, no harsh shadows or glare getting in the way.

They walked hand in hand through the fields, taking in the surrounding views. The rolling hills and abundance of sheep made for the perfect backdrop. Later on we wandered down the road and took a seat to catch the last of the sun lighting up the hill opposite. It was a really special evening getting to know Melissa + Steve and we are so looking forward to joining them on their wedding day.
